Class Levels
Early Explorers
A fun introductory program where exploration of skating begins off the ice for ages 2-4. Class focus is on balance/coordination/agility, listening skills, gaining comfort at the rink, fun, & more!
Snowplow Sam
Designed for skaters 6 and under to develop preliminary coordination and strength to move around the ice. The introductory classes are divided into 4 progressive levels for kids with no prior skating experience to build confidence in skating and themselves.
Basic Skills
The first stage of skills forms a strong foundation for skaters to explore the world of skating. All will progress at their own pace working toward mastering each skill.
Adult
It’s never too late to start learning! Oak Park Ice Rink offers adult skating classes as well! From beginners to advanced, we can teach you!
Free Skate
Each Free Skate level is divided into 3 sections: skating skills, spins and jumps. The levels are designed to give skaters a strong foundation. At this point the skater can choose to pursue a recreational or competitive approach to the sport of figure skating.
Aspire
The U.S. Figure Skating ASPIRE PROGRAM helps figure skaters who have passed Basic 4 make the transition from Learn to Skate Group classes into U.S. Figure Skating membership.
Aspire teaches young athletes and their families what it means to be a figure skater and is a comprehensive package program that includes on-ice classes, development of athleticism and artistry, and parent education. Off-ice is held on Wednesdays at 5:15pm in the Party Room, and on-ice is held on Saturdays from 9:00am to 9:45 am. The Aspire program costs $155 for every rolling 6 weeks. We empower our skaters to be successful and build confidence on and off the ice through our Aspire Program.
